On November 17, 2022, the German Physical Society (founded in 1845 and currently has about 60,000 members) announced that the Society's highest award in the field of theoretical physics, the Max Planck Medal, has been awarded to Rashid Alievich Sunyaev, the chief researcher of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences , Emeritus Director of the Institute of Astrophysics of the Max Planck Society and an outstanding visiting professor of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, honorary member of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences.
