International сonference “Ancient сultures of Mongolia, Baikal and Southern Siberia, and Northern China”

On September 25-30, 2023, the 12th International conference “Ancient cultures of Mongolia, Baikal and Southern Siberia and Northern China” was held in Irkutsk at the Scientific Research Center “Baikal region” (Irkutsk State University).
The conference was organized by Irkutsk State University, Institute of Archaeology of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, Institute for the History of Material Culture RAS, Institute of Archaeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, Buryat State University, Siberian Federal University, Institute of Archaeology of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, Northwest University of the People’s Republic of China, Jilin University of the People’s Republic of China.
This event was attended by 115 specialists from scientific and scientific-educational institutions of Russia, Mongolia, China, Japan, Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan. The participants exchanged up-to-date information in the study of archaeological and traditional cultures of Mongolia, Baikal and Southern Siberia, Northern China and adjacent regions in order to develop international and interdisciplinary scientific cooperation.
Within the conference, field trips to archaeological objects in the Irkutsk region, including a tour of one of the most famous Late Paleolithic monuments in Siberia, the «Malta» site, were organized.
