September 8-10, 2017, an international conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the observatory's opening in 1997 was held at the National Observatory of TÜBITAK (Antalya, Turkey).

The conference was actively participated by the Vice-President of the Tatarstan Academy of Science A.L. Abdullin, rector of the KFU, academician of the TAS I.R. Gafurov, the leaders of the Astrophysics Center of the TAS, TAS Academician N.A. Sakhibullin and TAS corresponding member IF Bikmaev, as well as an TAS honorary member M.R. Gilfanov.

A.L. Abdullin told Turkish and foreign colleagues about the structure of the Tatarstan Academy of Scienc and the main activities of the institutes and scientific centers of the TAS, emphasizing the importance of Turkic studies. A separate part of his report was devoted to the participation of the Academy of Sciences in astronomical studies with the help of PTT-150. With the assistance of the TAS, a high-resolution spectrometer was manufactured for the 1.5-meter telescope, with the help of which Kazan astronomers (for the first time in Russia) together with Turkish and Japanese colleagues discovered in 2017 a planet near the star - the cold red giant HD208897. In addition, with the support of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, research is underway to prevent asteroid hazard from a group of asteroids that are close to Earth.

The conference was marked by the need to further expand cooperation between Russian and Turkish scientists and to include them in participating in various international projects using PTT-150.
